ELECTROMAGNETIC THERAPY
Japanese researcher Kyoichi Nakagawa, M.D. speculates the time spent inside buildings and other shelters can interfere with natural geomagnetic fields of the earth causing health problems. He coined the term magnetic field deficiency syndrome as an explanation for these phenomena. He claims of this syndrome can cause headaches, dizziness, pain, constipation, muscle stiffness, insomnia, and general feeling of fatigue.
Other researchers have found that week electric currents can promote the healing of damaged bones. Robert Becker, M.D. the leader in this research also gained prominence by his observation that electromagnetic interference caused by all forms of electrical devices from power lines to home appliances and computers can cause serious health hazards to human beings and animals.
Placing a negative magnetic field at the top of the head has a calming, sleep-inducing effect on brain and body functions, due to the stimulation of the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is known to be able to provide many very useful biological services including being: antistressful, antiaging, antiinfectious, anticancerous. It has an effect on the production of free radicals which are substances known to cause great harm to normal tissue throughout the body.
How is Electromagnetic Therapy employed?
There have been no reported and documented harmful side effects to magnetic therapy if the procedures are performed properly. The magnets north, which is its negative pole, is determined with the use of the magnetometer. Magnetic strength is measured in units of gauss.
There are a large number of devices used to generate magnetic fields in electromagnetic therapy. Larger machines are needed to generate a strong enough to magnetic field to treat bone fractures in joint related problems. There are magnetic blankets that reduce stress and promote sound asleep. There are other devices that are placed in clusters around portion of the body including the head. There are other tiny magnets designed to stimulate acupoints in order to promote a balanced flow of energy through the meridians.
